As a pastor or church prayer coordinator, you know there are few people who better understand the power and importance of prayer. It’s what sustains us, unites the church body and acknowledges our dependence on our loving God.

On Thursday, May 6, millions of believers from across America will join together to celebrate the 59th annual National Day of Prayer. Since 1952, the National Day of Prayer has been a powerful reminder of our need to kneel before God’s throne in the public square – regardless of cultural and denominational differences.

The National Day of Prayer offers a multi-media kit complete with videos on DVD and a CD-Rom with all your event resources and planning guides. We also offer a pre-assembled event package and individual items like posters, prayer guides, bulletins and more. Available January 2010

Contact your state coordinator and be sure to post your event on the National Day of Prayer Web site.

What is the National Day of Prayer Sunday?
On Sunday, May 2, 2010, in churches, when 40 million Christians come together to worship, the Task Force is encouraging groups to take seven minutes to pray for the Seven Centers of Power (pray one minute each for these 7 centers of influence: government, military, media, business, education, church and family). Pray for renewal in our hearts and repentance to come to America. Why not claim this Sunday as NDP Sunday, from this day forward, in your church? This can kick off whatever the churches and NDP coordinators are planning during the week, on up to the day of celebration and declaration on NDP Thursday.
