For you are my lamp, O LORD, and my God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God--his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

2 Samuel 22:29-31 ESV

Reflection

Greetings prayer partner,

Yesterday, May 2nd, 2024 was National Day of Prayer! By law since 1952 the President of the United States of America must proclaim a day of prayer across the nation for our nation. It is a blessing to live in a nation where prayer is not only protected but proclaimed!

From coast-to-coast in communities, capitols, churches, prisons, planes, and parks people gathered to pray for neighbor and nation. Millions of people came together in unity and humility agreeing that we need God and America needs prayer. We were committed to the challenge of our 2024 National Day of Prayer theme to, “Lift Up the Word, Light up the Word!”

On this wonderful, powerful day that is the celebration and culmination of 364 other days filled with prayer, we mobilized unified public prayer for America all across America and broadcasted the 2024 National Day of Prayer National Observance around the world on many of your favorite Christian Television, radio and streaming networks. We will also be streamed from our website and Facebook page so that we could all pray together.

We invite you to text the word WORLD to 833.259.8648 and then reply to our text letting us know where you joined us in prayer including the city, state, and country. We also invite you to text the word LIGHT to the same number, 833.259.8648 if you would like to receive prayer prompts throughout the year as our prayer partners.

Thank you for praying with us! We look forward to hearing reports about how and where you prayed today as we continue to pray for you. This special day launches us into another year of daily prayer, and we look forward to hearing your glory stories as we stay committed to continue to, “Lift Up the Word, Light Up the World.”

Will you join me in prayer?

Lord Jesus, thank You for this incredible day set aside by law to pray for our nation. We know that we do not pray because of a person’s proclamation but by Your invitation as it was Your blood that has given us access to the Father in prayer. We thank you as You are at the right hand of the Father always interceding for us. Thank You Holy Spirit for prompting our prayers and even interpreting our prayers when we do not have the words, but only tears or groans, to express our hearts as we remain fully dependent on You Lord. We give You praise and thanks as You called us to, “Lift Up the Word, Light Up the World,” and commit to confess that we live in Your Light and will be faithful to Your calling to continue to light up the darkness. In the light and life-giving name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

Don’t stop praying!

Serving Him with gladness,

Kathy Branzell
