Working As If Worshipping the Lord

 Business-downtown-city-community

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.

Colossians 3:23 NAS

Reflection

You have probably heard that verse quoted many times in reference to Faith-filled work and doing our work faithfully.

Therefore, it is important to have God examine our heart, to give Him our heart, to ask Him to strengthen and at times even heal our heart, and to always fill our heart.

Loving God with all our heart, it includes working at whatever you do with all our heart. We don’t portion out our day, our lives, our priorities, and give God pieces. The greatest commandment begins with love God with all our heart soul mind and strength so of course He is the one to go to when we need to be filled, healed, and helped. We must go to him when we are heavyhearted for him to lift and lighten our burden. We are yoked with Him, reminded that his yoke is easy, and His burden is light.

We must go to Him in times when we are tired, troubled, and tempted to do things half-heartedly.

It is vital that we go to Him when we are brokenhearted when the hurts of this world, the loss or the strain has become overwhelming, and He reminds us to call on the God of Hope for comfort, strength, and courage to take heart and overcome.

If you’ve ever said the words, “My heart is just not in it,” stop to evaluate what is in your heart and what has dismayed, distracted or discouraged you. Do you believe that Jesus has led you to this task? Did you inquire of Him before making this commitment or decision? If the answer is yes, then ask Him to fill you with all you need to do His will to His glory.

But if the answer is “no,” then pray in repentance for running ahead of Him and ask him to strengthen you to fulfill this commitment to his glory or to walk you back if you have become involved in something that is not His will. Exhaustion is not an excuse. Scripture tells us not to grow weary in doing good. If it is something he requires of you, you have acquired what you need to obey. Let Psalm 23:1 abide in your heart with the comfort and joy of knowing, “The Lord is your Shepherd and you shall not lack.”

That includes all provision, not just financial, but also time, wisdom, relationships, partnerships, discernment, knowledge, and understanding. If God has led you there you have been prepared, and the work has been prepared therefore your wholehearted work is always worship in the eyes of the Lord.

Will you pray with me right now?

Lord, You are the Way the Truth and the Life. You are our Light, Creator, Source and Strength. We lift up your Word from 2Peter 1:3-8 that reminds us that Your divine power has “granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” …Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Strengthen us to apply all that You have supplied so that You will be glorified in all we think, feel, say and do. May our work be worship to You. In the wonderful name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

Serving Him with gladness,
