We will be holding a National Day of pray Service in our Sanctuary beginning at noon. The service will have several speakers, also several songs and opening and closing prayers and remarks by Richard Faust who is a member of the Churches Men's Leadership team and a U.S. Navy veteran who served on active duty for 21 years.

National Day of Prayer - Lift Up the Word, Light Up the World

Since 2015, Saint Mary Church, Portland and Council 7 Knights of Columbus have hosted a National Day of Prayer community service, an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, encouraging people of all faiths to come together in prayer. Along with prayer and song, the service features a guest speaker passionate about working to overcome serious social issues faced by our community, state and nation.

All are welcome to attend this year’s service, which will be held at Saint Mary Church, 45 Freestone Avenue, Portland on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Council 7 Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Val Burzynski, who will talk about the Knights’ global commitment to bring hope and healing to the people of Ukraine. The Knights’ Ukraine Solidarity Fund continues to provide food and medical supplies, generators for churches, and rosaries to promote the strengthening power of prayer. The Fund also provides school supplies and mental health services for veterans, orphans and widows. Through their efforts, the Knights of Columbus are bringing the light of Christ to the people of Ukraine to counter the darkness and evil of war.

A free will collection will be taken during the service to benefit the Ukraine Solidarity Fund.

Following the service, there will be time for fellowship in the church hall.
