What: In Oshkosh and communities across America, millions will unite at noon for the 73rd Annual National Day of Prayer, to pray for our local, state & national leaders; public officials; schools & school leaders; military; and our nation.
When: At 12 noon to 12:45 on Thursday, May 2, 2024
Where: At the Oshkosh City Hall, 215 Church Avenue, around the flagpole by the front entrance.
Why: The first Thursday of May every year has been designated by an act of Congress to be a National Day of Prayer. President Biden and all 50 governors, including the Oshkosh City Council are proclaiming May 4th, 2023 the 72nd Annual National Day of Prayer. Prayer brings people together. Prayer builds bridges between opposing persons and even political parties. Prayer reminds us that we are created in God's image and He desires for us to represent Him everywhere we go. Prayer brings UNITY.
Our Theme this year is: “LIFT UP THE WORD – LIGHT UP THE WORLD”
Our theme is based on: (2Samuel 22:29-31);
“For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God----his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.”
Each year more than 35,000 prayer gatherings are conducted by approximately 40,000 volunteers across this country. We would like to encourage all citizens to exercise their First Amendment right to pray and worship in public as well as private, by observing this annual National Day of Prayer in Oshkosh.
This event will be outside, rain or shine.
